Snowboard Stance

Postby steve-o on Sat Dec 20, 2008 10:01 pm

Hey,

I'm trying to figure out the right width and amount of duck to set my bindings at.

I know that the bindings are supposed to be centered.

Would some experienced riders please tell me their exact setup (if that's not too personal). Maybe include your height too.

Thanks.

Remember one thing for the stance, always go a bit wider that you would normally do, it will make it easier to go upwind + if you do trick like rotations it will help a lot.

the perfect duck stance to me is about 12-15 degree...

Is your board a perfect TwinTip or a freeride board where you can't have equal distance of the front and back binding to the nose and tail of the board ?

It's not a perfect twin tip (elan inverse 159), but I can get equal distance between tip and tail with a maximum of 22" width. And I'm 5'10". You think that's wide enough?

I'm 5'6" and thats about the width on my stance...so personally I'd say no that's not quite wide enough to make it really easy to go upwind...but who's to say that you'll have trouble...I mean it's not like on the water where you need good wind and speed to go up wind..I've snowkited in very little wind (7knots) on a 14M on a really crappy snowboard that and still got upwind...If it's your first year then just getting out on the equipment you got is still better than watching....

I am 5'5'', and my stance width is 22", 18 degrees in front and 13 in tha back. I prefer to have more angle in the front since I do all my bigger tricks when I'm riding regular... I'm just more confortable that way. My board is a 155cm.

Humm... I think you would be better off with 15degree on each binding. and equal distance from the tip of the board.

Basically, you want to get as good riding regular then goofy.. and do all your trick on both side.

that's just my thought.

When I used to ride a non-symmetrical board (regular), I liked riding racer-style with both feet around 30 degrees facing downhill...so when I started free-style, I still liked my feet more aggressively angled...front foot around 20 degrees and the back foot the same...24 inches apart...but I'm 6'1"

I saw the other day a guy using binding that pivoted.. so going one directly they were both pointing right... and the other direction they were pointing left... it was pretty funny to see...
